The design of the kitchen area can be different, it all depends on the preferences of the owners. The kitchen can be done in:
- classic style;
- country;

While doing restoration work, furniture can be transformed in accordance with one of them.
You can restore it in different ways:

- Replace individual pieces of furniture (walls, doors, shelves, facades) and fittings (locks, hinges, handles). Rationally apply if they have significant damage;
- Decoupage of facades;
- Furniture painting.
The choice of this or that method is made after the inspection and in accordance with your own wishes and requests.
Decoupage technique
Furniture surfaces can be repaired using modern decoupage technology. It is based on the use for the restoration of various improvised household products.
In particular, the following are used:
- fabrics;
- paper;
- household small things;
- glass;
- papier mache;
- old wallpaper.
They are applied to prepared, leveled, degreased, primed surfaces by gluing. After that, the elements are covered with transparent varnish.
Features of the restoration of facades
They are determined by the material of manufacture, the coating and the shape of the facade of the furniture. In addition, the selected restoration method is taken into account.
When painting, it is required to completely remove the facade, and not to apply the coating directly to the furniture itself. When disassembling, it is better to mark each part so that later after painting it can be correctly assembled.
If the shape of the furniture is unusual, this will significantly complicate the restoration work.
In addition, before performing any work, the surfaces should be cleaned, including, if necessary, remove old paint or pasting.
Using self-adhesive tape
Vinyl is often used. Restoration of furniture with its use has its own characteristics. All surfaces must be flat. It is glued in pieces corresponding to the configuration of a particular surface. Cutting is done with an assembly knife in accordance with the previously removed dimensions.
Curved lines are cut with scissors. Cutting is done with a margin of 1 cm. The surface is degreased before gluing. Then it dries. Pasting is done by smoothing, while air bubbles are removed. If they do appear, they can be removed with a simple needle, by piercing.
Special interior stickers
They can mimic the look:
- wood;
- natural stone;
- skin;
- fabrics;
- tiles.
The surface structure can resemble chintz, tapestry, silk. In addition, it can be glossy and matte. This variety allows you to combine. The advantages of using film are that it:
- resistant to temperature extremes;
- does not fade under the rays of light;
- not afraid of moisture.
How to update with photo wallpaper?
They can be glued to ordinary PVC glue, but in order for such a design to last longer, it is better to clean the surfaces, seal defects and primer. Wallpaper should be fixed with special glue. For pasting front surfaces that are often touched by hand, it is better to choose suitable vinyl wallpaper. They are more durable than paper ones and are easy to clean.
If you still plan to use the latter, then after the glue has dried, they should be coated with a water-based varnish. This will significantly extend their useful life and protect them from contamination.
But it must be remembered that the varnish slightly lowers the tone of the paints, makes it darker. Also, the kitchen set can be pasted over with self-adhesive wallpaper.
Refreshing the countertop and kitchen table
Often, it is the tabletop that needs updating, since it is it that is exposed to the maximum impacts during operation. Restoring it and other parts of the table can be done in different ways. By sanding, painting, glazing if wood or stone, or cladding.
For this, different materials can be used:
- artificial or natural stone;
- Chipboard;
- tile;
- mosaic.
To paint the surface, degrease and prime. Then you can apply:
- alkyd enamel;
- water emulsion;
- acrylic paint.
It is applied in 2 layers. After painting, the surface is covered with tempered glass.
Tiles and mosaics are laid on special glue, in accordance with the technologies recommended by their manufacturers for laying them on certain surfaces.
