Diy wood gazebo table
Every summer resident knows that a suitable space should be organized for feasts. If there is a gazebo on your site, then it can be perfectly adapted for this by installing a table in it. The right approach will make it not just a decoration, but also a place to relax. In addition, you can save a lot by making a table in a gazebo with your own hands. You will find out how to do this in our article.
What is a table in a gazebo for?
Outdoor recreation is especially pleasant in a comfortable place that will protect you from the scorching rays of the sun and rain. The gazebo fits perfectly into the garden and courtyard interior, creating an atmosphere of comfort and coziness.
Having assembled a table for a gazebo made of wood with your own hands, you will save yourself from unnecessary stress. It will no longer be necessary to carry furniture from home to the street all the time, which often appears in the warm season.
Varieties of tables in the gazebo
The appearance of country furniture is limited only by your imagination. You can even make a table from scrap materials left over from construction or repairs. It can be mounted on regular legs or on a solid base.
If you decide to make a table in a gazebo made of wood with your own hands, then it is better to buy only well-dried boards. Moisture over time leads to drying out and deformation.
Round
This shape visually enlarges the space and gives it aesthetics. The leg of such a table can be one massive stand with a well-fixed cross at the bottom, or it can stand on four legs, which are located in the corners.
Seats or chairs must be installed around it, making sure to organize the possibility of a passage between them.
Hexagon
Suitable for a gazebo with pointed and strict elements. Guests at such a table will feel more free than at a round one.
For a beginner, this option may seem very difficult, but in fact it is not.
Square
The simplest, most practical and functional option.
A square or rectangular wooden table and a gazebo bench should be the same length. This form will easily accommodate a large number of people.
Decorative
The table can be decorated with various animal figures, ornaments and patterns.
You can show your imagination or look at ready-made options on the Internet. Specialty stores also sell ready-made decorations for tables and benches made of a variety of materials.
How to make a table with your own hands
Having decided on the type of furniture that will decorate your gazebo, you need to start realizing your idea. But don't just run for the tools right away.
Prepare materials, tools and make a drawing according to which you will work. Only by properly organizing the process, you will quickly assemble the table.
Drawing creation
Any work must start with planning. When you have a suitable idea for the table in your head, you need to transfer it to paper and work it out well.
The drawing must be clear and accurately reflect all the metric characteristics of the object. First of all, you need to specify in it:
- Dimensions (height, length, width, etc.).
- Configuration (position of elements relative to each other).
- The shape of the table.
- The junction of fasteners (screws, etc.).
If you absolutely do not know how to make a drawing, then you can use a ready-made version from the Internet and remake it to fit your needs. It is made by hand on paper or in special programs (AutoCad, ArchiCad, 3DMax, etc.).
Building material and tool
When the drawing is ready, you can start making furniture for the gazebo from wood with your own hands. Buy planks from a hardware store or lumber warehouse. Pine and hardwoods work best.
To process them, you need the following tools:
- Grinder.
- Jigsaw.
- Screwdriver.
- Hacksaw.
- Fraser.
- Roulette.
- Fasteners (studs, nuts, screws, fasteners, etc.).
- Adhesive (PVA, two-component, for wood, etc.).
- Paints and varnishes and sponges with brushes for their application.
- Sandpaper (P80-P240).
- Primer.
Also, do not forget about the means of protection. Gloves and glasses should be available not only for the master, but also for the amateur.
Countertop manufacturing
It is necessary to prepare the boards for processing. Examine them carefully for defects or defects. The thickness of the board for the table top and benches must not be less than 30 mm.
Choose the length at your discretion, based on the number of people at the table. The most optimal usually ranges from 1.5-2 meters.
To make a countertop you need:
- Process the boards. The tree needs to be planed on the machine, and then sanded with sandpaper on the sides and from the end. Remove dust and apply a primer.
It is necessary to process absolutely all the details for the future table in the same way. This will prevent rotting and damage by parasites. The better the tree is prepared, the more beautiful and quality it will be a table for your gazebo.
- Place the boards on a flat surface with the back side up. If you want to make even spaces, you can place regular pencils between them. They will prevent water from accumulating on the surface.
- Tie the countertop with bars. First of all, nail the end bars, and only then do the bottom side. The distance between the bottom end bars should be approximately 40-45 cm.
You can fasten them with self-tapping screws or special ties for furniture. To make the table look more aesthetically pleasing, the hats are buried in the wood.
Making and attaching legs to the table top
In order for the table structure to be reliable and stable, you need to make a frame. It is assembled from four boards, forming a frame, and legs are installed on its sides.
The order of work is as follows:
- Make a frame. Mark up and drill guides for screws or corners. Observe the perpendicular position of the frame boards. Coat the ends with glue and fix with self-tapping screws. To prevent the wood from cracking, it is advisable to prepare the holes for the screws in advance. Make sure that the heads of the fasteners are completely immersed in the boards.
- Connect the frame and table top. Make a mark for yourself before mounting. Furniture corners, screws and glue can be used. Place the worktop with the frame attached to the rail on a workbench or other flat surface and connect to the worktop. Install the legs at the corners of the frame.
- Give the product a finished look. Polish up all imperfections, cover it with several layers of varnish (at least 2-3) or paint.
If you do not like the design of a classic table, then you can make it on X-shaped legs. This requires:
- Prepare 4 planks by cutting their edges at an angle of 52 degrees.
- Place two planks inside the worktop so that the legs can fit.
- The legs should be laid on a flat surface and crossed at an angle so that their width matches the width of the table. Mark with a pencil or chalk the place of their intersection at the level of the plane.
- Thoroughly coat with glue and secure with self-tapping screws. Cover with varnish and leave to dry completely.
- Place in the grooves prepared in advance and attach to the table.
