They are made from a variety of materials, from paper to precious stones, and therefore can have an original and attractive look.
Required materials and tools for manufacturing
Due to its availability, the most common material for crafts is paper, and napkins are the most convenient for children. The latter are easily torn and crumpled into lumps, which are used to fill the contours of the drawings. They can also be cut or twisted into bundles, which allows the creation of volumetric images.
Another advantage of napkins is their wide range of colors, allowing you to create pictures in any palette. Most of the appliqués require the following materials and tools:
- a sheet of thick paper or cardboard for the base;

This technique will additionally require thin wooden skewers. The work is done as follows:
- Cut napkins of the required colors into four parts.

To make the application of flowers from napkins using this technique, you will additionally need a knitting needle and threads to match the napkins. The application is performed as follows:
- Cut napkins into four squares along the fold lines.
- Wind the resulting squares onto the knitting needle, moving from the corner. Move the napkin on both sides to the middle, then remove the workpiece from the knitting needle.
- Slightly push the resulting accordion apart and lower its ends down, supporting them to the middle. This part is a blank for a petal.
- Fix the ends of the petal with a thread to match.
Note! For one flower, you can use a different number of petals, but the best option is eight - four large and four smaller.
- Similarly, prepare the core of the flower, which should be smaller than the petals. Trim the ends of all blanks.
- Form leaves in a similar manner. The only difference is the need to sharpen them at the end.
- Connect all elements. On a sheet of thick cardboard, you must first glue large petals, then small ones, then - the core and leaves.
Note! For such an application, it is better to use a glue stick, since its liquid analog is able to soak the workpieces and spoil them.
Pink tree
For this applique, you should choose napkins in hot pink and juicy green colors. Additionally, it will require pieces of white napkin and gold paint.
The work is carried out according to the following scheme:
- Form one small and two medium flowers from pink napkins, and one medium from green ones. To do this, you need to cut out the petals of a natural round shape and trim them slightly in the form of triangles.
- Cut the green blanks into two leaves with a pair of petals and one single petal. Then divide the green base into separate leaves.
- Glue the flowers, shifting the petals relative to each other so that there is no free space left. First, you should stick two medium pink flowers, then a small pink one.
- Twist from small white pieces of stamens and cover them with golden paint.
- Fix the stamens in the center of the flower.
- Glue green leaves on the underside of the flower, then put all the parts together and fasten with glue.
Cheerful teddy bear
The main element of this appliqué is twisted napkins in white and blue colors.
The work process is as follows:
- Draw a template in the form of a smiling polar bear on a sheet of cardboard or paper.
- Cut the napkins into four strips of equal size. Each of them must be twisted along in such a way that a dense tube is obtained.
- Using PVA glue, consistently fix the strips, placing them end-to-end to each other so as to hide the joints. The edging of the torso and abdomen, the eyes and the scarf are made of blue details, and the rest of the space is filled with white.
- Use a napkin in a contrasting color, for example, red, to twist the nose and smile elements. Stick them in the same way.
Herringbone from openwork napkins
For this work, you will need a white openwork paper napkin and sequins with a diameter of 0.5 mm in red and gold, as well as in the form of snowflakes. It is better to use paper of a contrasting color as a background, for example, dark green.
The application is performed as follows:
- Cut the round napkin into several pieces. To do this, you first need to determine the center from which the rays for the cuts will diverge. It is necessary to cut out three triangles, the openwork edge of each of which should be slightly smaller than the previous one.
