How to choose and combine high-tech curtains
The modern high-tech style has entered our lives as a reflection of new technologies. The design is practical and minimalist; it is characterized by chrome-plated surfaces, a minimum of decorations, and straight lines.
But living among austerity and chrome is not very comfortable, so designers are advised to choose interior accessories and curtains so that they match the style and enliven the space.
Types of curtains for Hi-Tech
Modern high-tech curtains can be of several types:
- Tulle and curtains are a classic version of curtains. But the tulle should be without patterns and decorative elements, and the curtains should be monochromatic, freely falling from the ceiling.
- Fabric roller blinds. For this design, synthetic or natural fabrics are used, impregnated with special agents that prevent dust from settling on them, moisture penetration and electrification. Usually they are done in monochrome, but they can also be in color shades with a grayish undertone.
- Roman blinds. This type of window decoration is very suitable for high-tech room design. The curtains are very functional, they allow you to completely open or close the windows with one wave of the hand.
- French or Australian curtains fit more into baroque, provence, empire or shabby chic designs. But even in this style, they have a place if performed without an abundance of assemblies and additional decorations in monochrome.
- High-tech style puts curtains from Italy an additional condition - no ruffles, frills or curtain pins, everything is laconic and strict.
- Japanese panel frames are perfect for this design, as they have the simplicity of straight lines and are very functional to use.
- Blinds are not at all trivial, if they are kept in the right color and supplemented, for example, with a thin veil or organza, a curtain-mesh, curtains of the appropriate style. Essential wherever you need reliable window protection from the bright sun or prying eyes.
Roman curtains
Roman blinds, despite the folds on the windows formed during lifting, have clear geometric outlines. They can be located parallel to the glass, or they can rise in the form of a sail over the window, which creates airiness and romance even in such a strict interior.
For hi-tech, these curtains are best made from modern fabrics with water and dust repellent properties. Original options are made of cotton, linen or matting with a special impregnation.
French curtains
This type of curtain is not very practical, since dust settles on numerous assemblies, and the curtain, in most cases, is sewn without the possibility of unfolding it. But, as an addition to blinds or strict long curtains, French ones suit very well - they "dilute" the technological space and bring notes of lightness and romance into it.
There should be no decorations on the curtains. Organza-monochrome, veil, satin are good materials.Color - classic white, all shades of gray, gray with a slight tonality of other colors - aqua, burgundy, green, etc.
Italian curtains
Italian-style curtains for high-tech are sewn from a special fabric with an anti-reflective coating.
It is permissible to fasten the canvases on the sides of the windows or in an asymmetric version, but hooks, curtain hooks or pins are used without additional decor.
How to combine correctly
Curtains can either completely match the color with the general decor of the room, or serve as a color spot.
Keep in mind! Even the use of colored curtains as an accent does not imply bright colors and prints - the color should be just restrained, barely perceptible, with a "dusting" of gray.
With wallpaper
Designers do not recommend choosing curtains for wallpaper or painting walls exactly in shade, this is permissible only with some design decisions. The same monochrome tone will simply “swallow” the curtains, make the room too office, cold, and lifeless.
Ideally, a shade or two is lighter or darker than the tone of the walls.
If the curtains and blinds are white, then they will fit into any color tone of the room.
With furniture
Curtains can match the tone of the furniture, or they can recede from it, as well as from the walls, by one or two tones.
The coincidence is relevant for rooms in which the main color is warm gray (with a khaki tint), brown, beige, ivory. If cold curtains are combined with warm-toned furniture, they will look alien.
The choice of curtains in the style of Hi-Tech (with photo)
It cannot be denied that correctly selected curtains can add advantages to the style of the room, and wrongly can completely ruin it.
It is sometimes difficult to choose curtains for such a laconic but strict design, so designers recommend using photographs of the most stylish interiors in magazines or on the Internet.
To the kitchen
In the kitchen, curtains or blinds in a minimalist style meet all the requirements of this room - they do not attract dust, resist moisture and sunlight, are functional and easy to use.
Designers recommend opting for blinds or sliding curtain options. The color is usually matched to furniture or a line of household appliances in chrome - gray, but there may be options.
For example, if something from kitchen utensils or accessories is green, then the curtains can be chosen in the same shade.
To the living room
Stylish photos of high-tech curtains for the living room can be found in abundance on the global network, you just have to choose your option.
Two-layer stripes with a colored lining that match in color with furniture or accessories in the interior will look good as curtains.
In the living room, Roman blinds or fabric blinds fit perfectly in the living room, which are placed in one continuous strip on the entire window, or several small ones, one for each transom.
All sliding curtains in the room can be left without additions, or you can combine them with curtains, curtains, stripes from a veil, organza, mesh or muslin.
Into the bedroom
The sleeping room must always be protected from excessive light, so it is better to stop the choice on options that well cover the entire window opening.
In addition to blinds and roller blinds, Italian or French curtains, multilayer veils or strict curtain canvases can serve.
Keep in mind! So that no noise is generated when opening and closing the curtains, it is better to place them on a cornice with an electric drive, controlled from a remote control or from a switch on the wall. In addition, long curtains of a simple shape look good when they fall directly from the ceiling; the cornice for them is placed in a special niche when installing stretch ceilings, which creates the effect of curtains hovering in the air.
To the nursery
A child's room is a special world that doesn't have to be boring. Therefore, curtains in a high-tech nursery are often made simple in shape, but colored.
Sliding curtains are beyond competition, because even a small child can cope with their closing and opening.
The interiors of children's rooms in the photo on the Internet look good, which are designed in the traditional high-tech gamut of gray and white colors, and the color spot is, for example, a window roller blind with a photo drawing, or a ceiling with a realistic image of the sky and clouds.
Curtain decor
The high-tech interior does not need additional decoration, it is distinguished by its minimalism and laconicism. But the living space imposes its own conditions on the style, therefore, even in the severity of the lines, decor is acceptable.
The main decoration of curtains in high-tech design are eyelets. They are made large, noticeable, often glossy, and the curtains are placed on the same glossy cornice. If the curtains themselves should not have any decorations, then around the eyelets the designers use the whole flight of imagination, and place there embroidery, print, trim in a different color, etc.
The Italian style of curtains in the interior can be supplemented with curtain pins, wall curtain hooks or strict, but stylish fabric hooks.
On tulle, muslin, an embossed laconic pattern such as frosty patterns, a checkerboard, abstract strokes, geometric rows of circles, stripes, etc. is allowed. An important requirement is that the curtains must be kept in one color (usually white).
Do-it-yourself high-tech curtains for the kitchen
When designing a kitchen space, most often combined with a dining room, you can save a lot if you sew the curtains yourself.
Keep in mind! Style requires not only color matching to the interior in gray or black and white tones, but also the choice of special materials, made and processed using modern technologies.
Which fabric to choose
This style implies the use of modern fabrics for sewing that have the properties of protection from dust, sunlight, and you need to look for special materials in the store. Commercially, these types of fabrics are called "Teflon coated".
The following types of fabrics are suitable for sewing curtains, depending on the type of future curtains and design:
- Flax impregnated.
- Burlap, impregnated matting.
- Organza.
- Satin or silk.
In the overwhelming majority of cases, plain fabrics are chosen, but there can also be a monochrome graphic print, or a 3D print.
Useful advice: In order to accurately determine the tonality of the material when buying, you should take a picture of the kitchen interior and take a photo to the store.
Before buying fabric and sewing accessories, of course, you need to accurately determine the design of the future product and take measurements of the window.
Phased creation
The simplicity of the lines also implies the simplicity of the cut of the curtain, so even a novice master will not have problems when sewing. But it will be difficult for a beginner to work with silk, organza or satin, so you should stop your choice on fabrics with less flaking edge and non-slip.
Having purchased the necessary fabrics and accessories for work, you can start making curtains:
- Having laid out the fabric on a flat surface, you should mark the top and bottom of the future curtain, taking into account the allowance for seams and hem (standard 2.5 cm on top (for loops and hooks), 4 cm (for curtain tape), and also 10 cm below for a wide If the fabric is too light, a weighting agent is also placed in the seam (sold in sewing stores).
- If the curtains are supposed to be placed on the eyelets, you need to calculate the required number of them (always even). Make markings at the top of the curtain and hem at the top and on both sides by 4-5 cm.
- Baste or pin the product on the needles. The seams can be additionally ironed over the basting.
- Sew all seams on a typewriter (regular seam): first from the sides, then along the top and bottom of the curtain.
- Place the eyelets on the canvas where they should be located in the finished product. Mark the inner circumference of each ring with a marker. Cut these circles with small scissors and put on the rings: first from the inside under the hole, then the front part, pressing slightly.
Making a high-tech kitchen curtain is not difficult, the main thing is to follow the rules.
Windows are an important element of the interior of a dwelling, and their design must be treated reasonably and carefully. High-tech curtains will perfectly complement the laconic interior and bring lightness and tenderness into it, decorate the space with the right choice and will serve for a long time.
