Wall curtain rods have a lot of advantages in comparison with ceiling models.
Their positive qualities include:
- Wide range of. On sale you can find round, rectangular, strings in the form of execution, one-, two-row or three-row, wooden, plastic metal according to the type of material used. This allows you to choose the best option for a specific interior composition.

They also have negative qualities, although there are not so many of them. It:
- some structures are able to partially let in sunlight into the room;
- visual reduction of free space, in the case of using massive compositions;
- fastening should be carried out on a strong wall, for example, drywall is not able to withstand the weight of a heavy curtain (this applies to wall double-row curtain rods for curtains in the interior, as in the photo).
Types of wall curtain rods
All modern curtain rods that are offered to choose in the store are divided into one-, two- and three-row. The first ones will be relevant for the kitchen and other rooms where one light curtain is enough. The other two are suitable for a bedroom, hall or children's room.
Based on the design, the cornices are divided into:
- Profile. Plastic and aluminum models are more common. The design has paths into which hooks are inserted to support the curtain. If you use a decorative overlay on top, you get a baguette cornice.
- Strings. Outwardly, they resemble a stretched cable. This option is ideal for minimalist or high-tech rooms. The advantage of such a cornice is called its low cost and laconic design. The disadvantage was the inability to apply it together with heavy curtains.
- Round. It is a tube that is hollow inside. If the product is made of metal, even heavy, dense curtains can be hung on it.
- Flexible. They are mainly used to design non-standard window openings. Today, they propose to select profile options, manual and automatic mechanisms that can move the curtains apart.
How to choose the right curtain rods
A correctly selected type of interior cornice will hide possible flaws and draw attention to the merits of the room.
In doing so, consider the following:
- Each curtain rod has a load capacity. Therefore, you need to roughly estimate the total mass of the curtain composition and compare it with this value.
- The fasteners used (hooks, eyelets, loops, clothespins) must move freely, correspond to the size and type of curtains.
- The choice may be influenced by the size of the window sill and the placement of heating pipes. You need to choose the model on which the curtains will hang freely without clinging to other structures.
- Using a curtain rod with curtains, you can make some changes to the interior, hiding its flaws and highlighting its advantages. For example, a narrow window opening can be visually expanded by using a long cornice and curtains that cover part of the wall near the window.
The use of wall cornices in the interior
The cornice is an integral part of any interior. For example, wooden models are suitable in a classic, country, Scandinavian and shabby chic room and are not at all appropriate in a high-tech and loft.
A baguette on a decorative strip is used in the design of the Baroque, neoclassical and classical.
A metal tube made of cast iron, bronze, steel or aluminum is applicable in ethnic and modern style. String can be found in the style of minimalism.
When choosing a specific model in the design of a room, it is also worth considering the color scheme, the style of curtains, other decorative elements in the design of interiors and the operating conditions.
If there are temperature and humidity changes in the room, eaves made of natural wood will not work here. In this case, models made of polymer materials are appropriate.
There is a huge range of wall cornices on the market today. This decorative element can become a highlight in the interior, if it is chosen correctly.
In this case, a number of nuances must be taken into account: stylistic direction, shade of room design, type of curtains.
