Correct fastening of roller blinds
Roller blinds are a good option for decorating a window for those who do not want to spend too much time and effort on decorating a room, but at the same time need a room closed from prying prying eyes.
Roller blinds are very similar to blinds, but they have one significant difference: if the word "blinds" introduces thin plastic or plates made of another material, connected into one structure, then roller blinds are a solid canvas that rolls up around the base-cornice in a closed form.
Installation of roller blinds on plastic windows
How to correctly measure and then install roller blinds on plastic windows? First you need to measure the window itself - this is done in the closed position of the window frame and it is important to avoid errors (measure everything to the nearest millimeter).
If the curtain has to tightly close the entire sash, you need to correlate the height of the opening part of the window with the length of the canvas. It is also important to clarify that the bottom edges of the blade guides must be at the same level.
Before measuring, it is necessary to determine the place of attachment:
- Outside to the opening.
- Inside the window opening.
- For each side (transom) separately.
You need to measure the width and height of the window. How to do it?
- This will take about an hour and a half, and from the tools it is worth taking a tape measure, a sheet of paper, a pencil.
- The width of the roller blinds should be equal to the width of the glass + 1 millimeter at each edge.
- When measuring, you need to make sure that the fastening of the curtains will not interfere with opening the windows.
The height of the curtain is equal to the height of the sash; the canvas can cover the window frame by no more than 5 millimeters.
Installation methods
What are the mounts for roller blinds?
There are 3 most common types of means with which the curtain is attached to the window:
- Open roller blinds. They are mounted in the window opening itself or above it. A special chain and a spring mechanism are used to control the curtains.
- Closed roller blinds. They have a decorative "cover" -box to hide the roller of folded curtains when the window is open. They are usually installed on the ceiling.
- Mini system. In general - the same as closed roller blinds, the only difference is in size. No need to drill frames.
How to hang roller blinds to a wall or ceiling
How to hang roller blinds to the wall. Instruction.
- Attach the cornice to the ceiling surface and mark the points where the screws will enter (it is better to choose screws longer than 4 centimeters, it will be more convenient to work this way).
- Drill holes for self-tapping screws corresponding to the holes on the cornice.
- If the ceiling is concrete or brick, you need to drill with a 6 mm victorious drill - the holes should be 4-5 centimeters deep, you don't need to do more. If the drill hits the gravel (when working on a brick ceiling), you can punch through the obstacle with a steel punch or dowel. It is more convenient to drill concrete with a wet tool.
- Insert plastic dowels into the holes.
- Screw the screws into the dowels.
Self-tapping screws

Tools you will need for work:
- Drill.
- Screwdriver.
- Screwdriver.
- Building level.
What to do:
- Choose a place for fasteners (you can use adhesive tape for this or just attach it to the window.
- Install the guide line. Thread the end of the line through the hole and tie a knot there, thereby securing the line.
- Fasten the fasteners with self-tapping screws: make holes in the base using a prepared drill, insert self-tapping screws and screws.
- Insert the roll-up roller - the main part of the curtains (roll of fabric) - into the grooves and push, you should hear a click.
- Install tensioners - fasteners at the bottom of the window. Measure everything with a building level.
- Fasten the lower ends of the line, drill the holes and then insert the screws.
Double-sided tape
The process of attaching roller blinds to plastic windows using double-sided tape is quite simple. Instructions:
- Mark the places for fasteners at the top and bottom using the building level.
- Fit the fasteners securely to the frame of the plastic window using double-sided tape. It is better to fix several points at once on the tape.
- Attach fishing line.
- “Put” the roll roller in the grooves of the mounts until it clicks and check its reliability - the roll with the canvas should not fall out of the mounts or look unstable, wobble.
- Secure the structure and check it in action.
On brackets
To fix the roller blinds on the brackets, you first need to determine the places where these brackets will be located. With the help of a building level and a pencil, you need to mark the places for the brackets and fix them (with self-tapping screws or tape). After that, it is possible to "plant" the cornice with roller blinds on the brackets.
Installing the guides
How to set guides. Instruction.
- Attach the guide to the base to which the curtains are attached.
- Mark the top and bottom of the guide.
- If necessary, cut off the excess part with a special construction knife.
- Prepare the second guide in the same way.
- Take a decorative box and compare it with the marks made earlier.
- Mark the places for the screws.
- Drill holes.
- Start attaching roller blinds with 1 screw.
- Check the functionality of the structure.
- Glue the guides with tape or glue to the roller blind.
- Secure the entire structure.
What are the installation errors?
The most common installation errors are:
- Window measured incorrectly. In this case, the curtain does not cover the entire lumen, or vice versa, closes too much space and gets in the way.
- Start drilling holes without additional measurements and fittings. This can ruin the finish of the window.
- Marking applied incorrectly. In this case, the curtain will be unavailable for use.
- Unsuitable mountings selected. The result is that the structure is not securely fixed and can fall to the floor or window sill at any time.
- The installation method is not correct. Then the view of the window and the whole room will be spoiled.
Thus, you can quickly hang roller blinds on any mount with your own hands without the help of specialists.
