Basic rules for removing ink
Before trying any method, you need to take into account the general rules for removing ink. Otherwise, the fabric can be damaged, and the thing will be hopelessly damaged.
- Emergency resuscitation. Sprinkle talcum powder, baby powder, starch, or salt over the fresh stain to keep it from digging deep into the fabric. After a while, blot with a dry cloth, sprinkle again, trying to rub the powder into the fabric.
- The faster the better. Stubborn ink is harder to remove, so start bleaching as soon as possible.
- No warm water. Fresh ink is easier to remove in cold water. Warm not only will not help, but will aggravate the situation.
- Consider the characteristics of the fabric. Jeans, silk, wool, satin, cotton are natural and delicate fabrics that can deteriorate from strong friction or the wrong temperature.
- Do not rub - blot. After applying a certain composition to the stain, it is better not to rub it, but to blot well with a dry, clean cloth.
- If you rub, then only from the outer edge inward. If any composition requires it, wipe off the dirt only from the outer edges to the center, otherwise it will creep.
Having studied these rules, you can learn how to remove fresh ink from clothes, choose the appropriate method, and get down to business.
Ways to remove ink using folk remedies
In many cases, a stain remover is the best remedy, however, it is not always possible to find the right one the first time, because most of them have an aggressive composition or bleach. In order not to spoil your favorite thing, it is better to use folk advice, because they are mostly safe.
In addition, the funds we have considered can be found in every home.
On a note! To check the effect of the composition, apply it to an inconspicuous area of the fabric from the wrong side, hold it for a while, then rinse.
Hydrogen peroxide
The first thing that can be found in the house of every housewife, or rather, in her first aid kit, is hydrogen peroxide. This antiseptic is able not only to painlessly disinfect the wound, but also to cope well with various stains, including ink stains.
Important! Hydrogen peroxide has a slight whitening effect, so it cannot be used on colored fabrics.
The first way is the easiest. Soak a cotton ball in the peroxide and blot the stain. Then replace the disc, moisten the new one, and gently, moving from edge to center, wipe the stain. Avoid rubbing too hard to prevent ink from getting into the fabric.When the work with dirt is completed, rinse this place and send the item to the washing machine.
For the second method, you will need the following components:
- water;
- ammonia;
- hydrogen peroxide.
Mix them in proportions 6: 1: 1, soak the soiled area of the product for 2 hours. Then rinse the clothes with cool water and send them to the wash.
Ethanol
Alcohol-based substances are also active against stains. The main thing is that they are not very aggressive. The best solution is rubbing alcohol, which is made by adding distilled water to ethyl alcohol. To remove ink, it is enough to moisten a cotton pad abundantly in alcohol and blot the stain until it disappears. Then wash the item.
Important! Change the cotton pad as often as possible.
Any alcohol-containing substance can replace medical alcohol: vodka, tinctures, and even hairspray. The main thing is that the liquid used is transparent.
Vinegar and vinegar essence
While most homemade recipes work for light colored items, white vinegar can be used for all types of fabrics. You will need the usual 9% table vinegar, which can be found in the kitchen of every housewife.
Method number 1 Table vinegar. Dilute 9% table vinegar with water in equal proportions and soak clothes for half an hour. You can dab the stain with a sponge every 10 minutes for better results. Then rinse with water and wash with powder. To get rid of the unpleasant vinegar smell, add more rinse aid.
Method number 2 Acetic essence, also known as acetic acid, is a more concentrated vinegar. Its concentration is 80% compared to 9% of regular table vinegar. Accordingly, it is more powerful and must be used with caution.
Important! Be sure to wear gloves before handling.
Pour a small amount of acetic acid into a container and heat it up. Soak a cotton ball in the liquid and wipe the stain from the edges to the center. Avoid skin contact with essence.
Ammonia
If there is no medical alcohol in the first-aid kit, ammonia can replace it. It is worth using it in the same way. Soak a cotton ball in ammonia and blot the stain. Discard the dirty disc and repeat the procedure. Try not to rub or press on the stain, but rather blot it lightly.
A solution of soda and ammonia will be more effective.
You will need:
- ammonia 1 teaspoon;
- soda 2 tablespoons;
- water one glass.
Soak the stain in this solution and let it sit for 20-30 minutes. Then rinse the product in cold water and put it to wash.
Important! Use the composition only for white clothes.
Micellar water
Micellar water has an active composition that will not only cope with the removal of cosmetics, but also help in the fight against household stains.
The main components that dissolve ink are poloxamers, non-ionic surfactants that form micelles. They emulsify impurities and remove them. It also contains hexylene glycol, a solvent that will also help deal with pollution; disodium cocoamphodiacetate is another surfactant cleansing agent.
In addition, the composition of the micellar contains disodium salt, which forms compounds with metal cations in water, softening it. Therefore, you can safely use this tool for delicate fabrics such as silk, cashmere, satin, wool.Also, the product has no bleaching properties, so its use is not limited to white items.
Glycerin and sodium tetraborate
Sodium tetraborate is another antiseptic that can be found in the medicine cabinet. True, at the present time it is rarely used, but if it is in your first aid kit, it will help and cope with ink.
Tetraborate is sold already dissolved in glycerin, so there is no need to add additional glycol. The solution has a gel-like consistency. Just dab it on a cotton pad and wipe the stain. The ink will dissolve and disappear after a few repetitions.
On a note! Can be used for colored and black items.
Solvent
This is a very broad concept. Many of the products we use every day contain solvents, even micellar water for makeup remover. In fact, any alcohol-containing liquid is a solvent. Any alcohol is suitable for our purposes.
But there are special tools that act as a direct solvent. They are mainly designed to remove paint. Their active ingredient is acetone, so they are very aggressive, and you risk ruining your favorite clothes.
Important! Solvents are aggressive, so choose the most gentle options.
Use solvents used in cosmetology. This is a remover for hair dyes, eyebrows, nail polish remover.
Using a solvent to remove ink from clothing involves directly applying a small amount of liquid to the stain. Then carry out standard manipulations, as with alcohol.
Toothpaste or shaving foam
The simplest remedy that can certainly be found in every apartment is toothpaste. It will help in the fight against fresh tracks. Apply a small amount of the paste to the stain and scrub it with a soft toothbrush or finger.
Do not try to scrub the stain, or you may damage the fabric and the ink will penetrate even deeper as a result. You can just as well use shaving foam or hand cream. It is advisable to take the cream as fat as possible.
Dishwashing liquid
Dishwashing detergents contain solvents and surfactants that fight grease. This property will also help in the fight against ink. First, try lathering the product and applying the resulting lather to the contaminated area. Then rub it lightly and leave it on for a while. Next, wash off the product with water, if the contamination is gone, the thing can be sent to the machine.
If the dish gel alone didn't work, make the following solution:
- glycerin 1 tablespoon (15 ml);
- dishwashing liquid 1 teaspoon (5 ml).
Apply the solution on both sides of the stain, rub it in and let it sit for 15-20 minutes. Then rinse off with water. Repeat the procedure if necessary. Suitable for all types of fabrics.
White
This product is based on chlorine and should be used with caution. Chlorine can harm both clothing and skin.
Important! You need to work with whiteness strictly with gloves.
Use chemical bleaches only for white fabrics. Even on light colored ones, they will leave a mark, so use is strictly limited.
The product can be added to a bowl of water in the proportion indicated on the package and the product can be soaked for half an hour. You can also add it to the stain remover and bleach compartment in the washing machine.
With a general wash with bleach, it will be possible not only to remove the ink, but also to refresh the color of the thing.
Fermented milk drinks
If you don't already know how to wash off the ink, try sour milk drinks. Kefir and yogurt are best suited. They have a good stain removing and whitening effect. They gently deal with dirt, therefore they are suitable for delicate fabrics. However, the result will take time.
Heat kefir or yogurt and soak a piece of clothing in it. If possible, you can soak the whole thing completely. Leave it on for 2-3 hours. Then wash with the addition of the powder and rinse with the addition of rinse aid.
