How to remove the lid from the Indesit washing machine
Any technique has its own resource. The washing machine was no exception to the rule. Indesit is rightfully considered a reliable manufacturer, but even with these machines, unpleasant moments happen. There is not always a desire and financial opportunity to invite a master to perform the work.
That is why it is important to know how to remove the top cover of the Indesite washing machine, what tools will be needed and other, equally important nuances when performing work.
Features of the washing machine Indesit
Most washing machines are designed in such a way that removing the lid would not cause difficulties, and there was easy access to the main mechanisms and elements of technology. Indesite differs (not always, but on some models) in some difficulties with this process.
Therefore, if you first decided to deal with a malfunction, you need to know how to remove the cover and arm yourself with the necessary tools.
The problem often lies in the method of fixing the lid - by means of plastic latches. Their density can significantly complicate the dismantling process.
IMPORTANT! Under no circumstances should the latches break off - this process has no reverse effect!
We must not forget about the second obvious danger: turn off the equipment before starting work.
Can the top cover be removed
Only on some models it is almost impossible to remove the cover (at least at home). In all other cases, everything will work out if you follow the recommendations on the methodology of the work.
The work can be broken down into several stages:
- Preparatory. At this stage, all the necessary manipulations are carried out before starting the main work.
- Dismantling. Actually, this is the most difficult part of the task. But in any case, it is doable.
- Assembly. After troubleshooting, the final stage begins.
Removing the cover may be necessary, for example, to fix a broken door or determine other problems. First you need to figure out what tools are needed and what needs to be done at the very beginning, before performing dismantling work.
What tools are needed
Of course, classic models from different manufacturers may have similarities. For example, knowing how to open the lid of the Ariston washing machine, the scheme of actions for Indesit will be similar. In any case, tools are indispensable.
You will need:
- open-end wrench set (range from 8 to 18 mm);
- heads and crank;
- pasatizh;
- screwdriver with interchangeable nozzles (Phillips and slotted);
- socket wrenches (set, because dimensions may vary);
- rubber lined hammer;
- multimeter;
- hacksaw with a blade for metal;
- markers or felt-tip pens for marking;
- awl.
Note! The markers may well be replaced with a piece of chalk.
Preparation for work
When the tools are ready to work, you can proceed to the next, preparatory stage. First, you need to follow a few simple safety rules.
Including:
- de-energize the machine (pull the cord out of the socket, since a simple shutdown with a button will not ensure safety);
- move the equipment slightly away from the wall to ensure unhindered access to it;
- disconnect the hoses (usually unscrewed without additional tools, with your fingers);
- clear the work area.
It goes without saying that the washer drum must be empty. At the initial stage, the control panel is removed. If this condition is not met, the cover cannot be removed.
How to remove the cover correctly
When the preparation is complete, you need to proceed directly to disassembly. This can be done by knowing the type of loading of the machine. Naturally, if the machine is yours, then this point can be missed. There are two types of loading: front and vertical.
The list of tools will not have any striking differences, as well as the preparatory stage of work. So, let's look at the disassembly instructions in both cases.
Removing the cover on the front model
So, let's move on to opening the top cover. It is important not to forget about the problem with the latches, do not damage them. There is a list of which washing machines have the top cover removed, but basically this instruction can be used as a universal one.
We carry out the following algorithm of actions:
- Examine the back panel for two self-tapping screws. They play the role of a top cover retainer in front-type Indesit washing machines.
- Unscrew them. This can be done with a screwdriver, often with a cross-head.
- From the back of the washing machine, lift the lid while pulling it towards you in parallel. This step must be carried out carefully, despite the fact that it will take effort. You need to pull the cover until the latches are loosened.
- The cover may not budge. In this case, it is impossible to exert excessive efforts (remember the delicacy of handling the latches). It is better to try to remove it from the other side - the front one. You just need not to pull towards you, but pushing forward (towards the back) by pressing.
Note! Never listen to the recommendations to pry off the lid with a knife to open it. This can create unnecessary problems!
Removing the cover on a vertical model
It is important to know that vertical loading is more difficult to disassemble. Here, the removal of the dashboard is also added to the process of dismantling the cover.
The goal of the physical intervention plays a role. It can be reduced to trying to get to the hatch door, then everything will be limited to unscrewing a pair of latches.
But it will be possible to remove the top panel only by dismantling the control mechanism. The chronology of actions is as follows:
- we find the screws under the dashboard and unscrew them;
- the panel will need to be tilted forward to remove (perform this action carefully so as not to damage the mechanical elements);
- the cover is held by the screws located under the dashboard, they must be unscrewed;
- remove the cover.
Note! The wires are connected to the panel, do not damage them when removing.
How to assemble everything correctly
It is sometimes even easier to disassemble something than to assemble it. The main thing is to remember the sequence of actions, do not lose the fasteners. The assembly is carried out upside-down.
Do not forget to snap the latches on the top cover of the washing machine before tightening the screws.
