Washing machine with water tank
Today it is possible to make your life easier even in the absence of a water supply system (or its limited use). We are talking about washing machines with a water tank.
What are the strengths and weaknesses of these models? In what situations will they become reliable helpers?
Principle of operation
Today, units with water tanks are most often used in country cottages in rural areas or in country houses. Since, usually, it is there that there is no centralized water supply and sewerage system. Outwardly, the machine is very similar to the familiar model of an automatic washing machine: it also has several washing modes, protection against leaks, a decent spin and much more.
In general, their structure is exactly the same as in automatic machines. The main difference is that the unit is not connected to the water supply, but has a separate water tank, which is enough for up to three full washes. Therefore, the machine requires a power source (220 W) and a water tank to operate. Water is drawn into the tank either in buckets, or, if there is a built-in pump, it can be connected to a well.
And do not worry that there is not enough water for washing or rinsing - the machine will take as much as needed. The water tank itself is installed either from the side, or from the top, or from the side of the rear panel.
The material from which the tank is made is plastic or stainless steel. In the first case, the model turns out to be lighter, but not very durable, and in the second, it is very reliable, but with additional pounds.
The main feature of such machines is that they work completely autonomously, which means they need to be installed correctly. In order to guarantee rational functioning, the floor must be perfectly flat (preferably concrete). The level and twisting of the support legs of the washing machine will help ensure a "level" position.
If the machine has a filling valve, then it is better to mount it vertically on the tank, and only then connect the hose.
It is also recommended to properly organize the drainage system. In the event that there is no centralized sewage system, the drain hose must be lengthened and extended to the drain pit. And before starting the machine for the first time, carefully check all connections to make sure there are no leaks.
Advantages and disadvantages
The main advantages of this type of automatic machines:
- All washing modes are carried out without exception, regardless of the water pressure in the pipes. Often it is precisely the insufficient pressure that prevents ordinary washing machines from quickly and efficiently completing the entire set program.
- Profitability. Such models will help save not only water, but also electricity. Most washing machines with a water tank have an energy efficiency class A ++. Compared to conventional washing machines, machines are more practical, since they allow you to run several programs at once, and when they are executed, resources are rationally used.
- Affordable cost. There are many different modifications that differ in feature set and price. This means that each family will be able to choose a model that is ideal for their conditions and financial capabilities.
Well, a little about the disadvantages:
- The water tank significantly increases the size of the washing machine, which means it will require more space.
- With every next load, make sure that the tank is full in order to avoid unpleasant surprises.
It is much easier to wash with such a unit than, for example, with a semiautomatic device, where a lot of functions must be performed manually. And you will not be able to leave the semiautomatic device unattended. But using a washing machine with a water tank as an ordinary automatic machine will not work in an apartment, even if you disconnect the tank. Indeed, in such units, a connection to the water supply is not provided.
How to choose
There are several important points to consider when choosing a washing machine with a water tank. First of all, these are the dimensions of the model (it will not fit in every bathroom), as well as the availability of the necessary programs to ensure the result you need.
If you are looking for a unit exclusively for summer cottages, then “washing very dirty laundry” and “pre-soaking” will become indispensable functions. In addition, pay attention to the indicators of energy efficiency, spinning and noise. "Quiet" machines spin laundry from 1200 rpm.
For some, child and leak protection programs, as well as the possibility of a delayed start, will be decisive. Of course, each additional function will affect the cost of the washing machine, but it will greatly simplify the operation and, as a result, your life.
But there are a few must-have criteria for trouble-free use:
- The presence of a tight cover. Ideally, the lid should fit snugly against the tank body. Otherwise, dust will get into the inner cavity of the tank, which will negatively affect the service life of the heating element.
- Automatic control over the filling of the tank. In this case, when the tank is full, the system will give a signal. This function is especially relevant when you fill the tank with a long hose, and it is not possible to follow the process.
- Volume of the tank. This criterion is selected solely from your needs. The larger the tank, the more washes you will have enough water. In different models, the volume of the tanks varies from 50 to 100 liters.
- The amount of laundry per wash. This is also an individual indicator. On average, machines with a water tank can wash up to 7 kilograms of laundry at a time.
- The presence of the display. If there is an electronic display, it is easier to set the program parameters, as well as to determine the cause of the malfunction, since the error code is displayed on the display.
- Ability to independently set program parameters. This function is not available in every model, but it greatly facilitates operation.
The water tank is not always included in the basic package. In some cases, it has to be purchased additionally, so this point must be clarified when buying.
Well, when choosing a washing machine with a water tank, it is better to give preference to trusted manufacturers.Let it cost you a little more, but later there will be no problems with operation and with warranty repair, if such a need arises. Famous brands value their reputation.
Today there is a sufficient range of washing machines with a water tank. You are guaranteed to find a model suitable for use, both in the country and in the apartment. And by carefully approaching the choice of the machine, and observing the rules of operation, you will ensure a long service life of the unit.
